She was sure that she will be chosen. It was this very moment when she had to get past the competition and catch the courage and confidence she needed to make this part hers. Feelings like uncertainty and fear were only for the weak. She knew that she couldn’t get nervous, that she wanted this part more than any other candidate and that her whole career depended on it.
As soon as she was called in, she walked with her head up high. She looked the judges right in the eye and started acting her favorite Shakespearian part, the one she considered most difficult to act. Her face was changing from act to act, portraying anger, excitement and sorrow. They all looked at her not blinking an eye, like futuristic robots that can’t express any emotion. When she finished her presentation she looked at them in silence, expecting their feedback but they were just sitting there.
She felt judged but not for her acting skills. A cold drop of sweat fell down her forehead and her eyes were soon to be interpreted as confused. The judges looked at her with their authority and crushed her dream breaking it into small little pieces. Shocked, she was standing in front of them, stiff, feeling empty inside. Her dream to become an actress was not going to come true. She had to walk away from it hoping to find a new dream soon.
